Liz Watson and Dan Canon endorse Kate Rosenbarger

Bloomington – 2018 Democratic Primary candidates for U.S. Congress, Liz Watson and Dan Canon, endorse Kate Rosenbarger for City Council District 1.   “Liz Watson and Dan Canon are two people who are greatly admired in our community for their progressive values, grassroots efforts, and incredible work ethic.  They are inspiring and empowering, and I am honored to have their endorsement.”

Liz Watson says Kate will bring her community development experience and her ability to foster inclusive and positive participation to city council.   “I know Kate from her work on my campaign for U.S. Congress. She has an enthusiasm and professionalism that is rare to find. She is an inclusive, empowering leader.”

Dan Canon says Kate is a true progressive who will move the city forward.  “People diverse in age, race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, and philosophy call Bloomington home. This diversity creates great potential. Kate Rosenbarger is someone I know and trust to lead in a community like Bloomington, where we set the standard for progressive change.  Kate has put in the work and has made a career out of helping people and fighting for a better world. I wholeheartedly support her and trust in her ability to represent City Council District 1.”

Rosenbarger is focusing her campaign on housing affordability, improved transit, social equity, and climate action.  “Bloomington has a great opportunity to become a model Midwestern city for climate action and social equity.  By creating affordable housing in walkable, bikeable, transit-oriented areas, we can create opportunities for people to improve their lives, and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions at the same time.”

Watson knows Kate’s passion to help others and ability to work together are assets for Bloomington.   “It’s time for change, and Kate has the energy, the vision, and the depth of experience to move Bloomington forward.  I am thrilled to be supporting Kate for City Council District 1.” Liz was the Democratic nominee for the 9th Congressional District in the 2018 election.

“I’m ready to advocate and represent all residents in District 1.  It’s time to foster a more welcoming environment to encourage residents to participate in the political process.  By listening and sharing ideas, we can come together to work toward common goals. If elected, I’ll hold monthly constituent meetings and be available and responsive to residents.”

The Democratic Primary will be held on Tuesday, May 7. Voters have until Monday, April 8 at 12:00 to register to vote. Early vote starts April 9.  Check voter status or polling location at
